The Union Public Service Commission (UPSC) annually conducts the nationwide competitive Civil Services Examination (CSE) in India. Candidates securing high ranks are appointed in prestigious positions of the Government of India. Structure of the CSE examination: The CSE is conducted in three different phases. First, is the primary test comprising of objective question-answers on 2 papers - General Studies I and General Studies II. Another name of these papers is CSAT or Aptitude test. Second, is the main examination comprising of 9 papers on essay answers to questions. Only 2 papers are considered for qualification for taking the personality interview. Thereafter, the marks obtained on the other 7 papers are counted.
