Indian Police Service In 1948, Indian Police Service (IPS) was formed. Ministry of Home Affairs is the head of IPS officers who serve under State and Central Administration. There are four broad divisions of the IPS - Crime Branch, Criminal Investigation Department (CID), Home Guards, and Traffic Bureau. The major role of IPS officers is to safeguard public by maintaining peace, law and order. IPS officers manage crime, drugs, traffic, accidents and more. They mainly lead the Indian Intelligence Agencies (Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI), Criminal Investigation Department (CID), Intelligence Bureau (IB), Research and Analysis Wing (R&AW)). The IPS officers are responsible for Indian Federal Law Enforcement Agencies and Civil and Armed Police Forces in all the States and Union Territories and Branches in IPS. IPS officers have to clear their CSE preferably at first attempt. In Delhi, there are several affordable coaching institutes with several years of experience. Many outsiders move and stay in Delhi to train at their selected coaching centre for CSE. Coaching institutes provide study material, class notes, video-presentation, test series and more. Additionally, some centres mould the candidates’ personality to succeed in the interview.
