Joining Bank services is one of the most ought to jobs in India after graduation and thus there is a huge competition in this required field. With no doubt to clear any competitive examination, there should be proper knowledge of the subjects and excellent preparation in the same. 1. Specialist Officers (SO) –

2. Bank Probationary Officer ( PO) –

This is a position of management or managerial position in the bank. Their salary varies from bank to bank and location.

3. Bank clerks

The pattern of the Bank examination

There are 3 main process through which a candidate has to go and then they will be selected accordingly;

  • Pre
  • Mains
  • Interview

The first two phases that is Pre and Mains are written tests and the last stage is a walk in interview. The final list is prepared on the basis of mains and interview carrying weightage of 80% and 20% respectively.

Syllabus of the Bank exam and their required Books

To test the general aptitude of the student's written exam is conducted. 100 questions are asked from three different sections in prelims – Quantitative aptitude, Reasoning ability and English language which have 35 questions, 35 questions and 30 questions respectively.

In mains, 200 questions are asked which has Quantitative Aptitude, Reasoning Ability, English Language, General Awareness and Basic computer knowledge.

This section will include questions from Number systems, Ratio and proportion, Percentage and Averages, Profit and loss, Simple interest and compound interest, Mixtures and allegations, Surds and indices, Time and Distance, mensuration, Cylinder, cone, sphere, sequence, series, Permutation, combination, probability, Data Interpretation and Quadratic Equations.

RS Aggarwal is considered as one of the best books to crack all the competitive examination as it is a handbook which covers the topic from mathematics and aptitudes based on the examination organized. 2. Reasoning Ability

This section includes questions from sitting arrangements, tabulation, syllogism, logical reasoning, input-output, coding-decoding, alphanumeric series, ranking, direction, alphabet test, data sufficiency, coded inequalities, nonverbal reasoning.

3. English Language

This section contains question from reading comprehension, Error Spotting, cloze test, Sentence correction, vocabulary, Para jumbles, Multiple meaning words, Paragraph completion and new pattern questions of various types and structure.

The book for this part would be General English by SP Bakshi (Arihant). The book contains all sorts of question in English grammar and comprehension. An e-book is also available for this book and it is easily available online at a price of Rs. 220 on Amazon and Rs. 153 on Flipkart.

4. Computer knowledge

This section includes the basic computer knowledge like number system, binary language, software, hardware, history of computers, introduction to database, basic introduction to communication, networking, internet, logic gates, security tools, MS windows and office, virus, hacker, etc.

5. Current Affairs

This section is the most scoring section and includes questions from Banks in NEWS, Economy based current affairs, Business NEWS, Agreements, New Appointments, Visits, Government Schemes, Awards and Honors, Summits, Committees, National and International, Obituaries, Reports and Indexes, Books and Authors, Defense, Sports etc.
