Diploma in Health Inspection is generally a 3-year program after Class X which provides a promising career in the field of health in India. A Health Inspector is responsible for the health conditions at the grass-root level of a country. For a challenging working atmosphere and a compassionate motive in life, this course should always be given preference due to its dynamic nature.
Being a health inspector is a meticulous task with a lot of responsibilities in various domains in the health sector of the country. Some of the prominent responsibilities include:
Maintaining sanitization as per the government regulations as well as conducting various awareness programs regularly to improve the health condition of the nation.
Monitoring the water facilities with periodic checks related to the level of minerals and pollutants in the water supplied in various localities of the city.
Responsible for checking the spread of communicable and seasonal diseases by taking necessary preventive measures. If any hazardous condition is found, they conduct various medical programs like awareness programs, vaccination, etc.
Monitor the water samples of different communities to test the safe level of water pollutants and minerals at periodic intervals. They also monitor the status of home septic tanks and even water-treatment plants.
Responsible for monitoring the food joints of the area in terms of safety and quality of food. Also, monitor the practice of safety standards, cross ventilation, and even the food storage and packing at regular intervals.
A public health inspector is responsible for primary and follows up inspections in different public locations. They travel and then inspect thoroughly to ensure sanitation and health codes.
They also act as frontline workers in preventing the spread of diseases with the help of awareness programs and vaccination campaigns at regular intervals.
The course duration of the diploma depends on the curriculum of various states. In many southern Indian states this course is of three years after class X and for two years after class XII. Several universities provide a diploma for one year too. Therefore, course duration varies due to the syllabus and educational structure of the state.

Eligibility Criteria for this course is different from every university or depends on the qualification of the candidate.
The aspirant should have passed class X from a recognized board.
Various universities also require at least 50% aggregate in the secondary school
The aspirant should have passed class XII from a recognized board with PCB as main subjects.
Various universities allow candidates of non-science background to also apply for the diploma course. Some institutes may require above 50% aggregate in Class 12th as eligibility criteria.

I.Food Inspector
Responsible for analysis of various food articles for safety in restaurants and food joints in accordance with the rules laid by the government. This includes regular checkups of food articles that are sold and manufactured by various food outlets as per the food protection regulations issued by the government.
II.Medical Health Assistant
Responsible for conducting preliminary tests on patients and follow up with a comprehensive analysis of the results. Helping medical patients and conducting clinical duties in order to monitor and record the results of medical tests.
III.Sanitization Inspector
Examining land areas and scrutinizing problems concerned with the pretermit of property and illegal activities like the dumping of refuse as laid by the municipal cooperation. Regularly monitoring communities in order to find illegal dumping, litter, and disposal of hazardous wastes. Promoting sanitization methods and policies with the help of meetings with residents and community health workers.
IV.Public Health Officer
Job responsibilities include developing plans and policies that benefit the individual and community health care systems. Also responsible for providing basic public and personal health care facilities to the citizens by continuously monitoring health hazards.
V.Multi-Purpose Health Worker
Act as a bridge between the healthcare projects and the indigenous populations. Conducting various health awareness programs and vaccination schedules as per the government rules. Act as frontline worker in any medical emergencies and pandemics in order to implement safety standards.
VI.Hygiene Inspector
To ensure all aspects of the hygiene service are carried out and maintained to the required standard and manage the hygiene budget and ensuring all expenditure is authorized and recorded. Responsible for managing the orders and stock control of hygiene consumables and chemicals.
