The duration of the course in a medical university ranges from six to seven and a half years. It includes an internship of one to one-half years. There are four stages if MBBS, which defines its entire duration. These are:
It is a two-year-long program which consists of four semesters. It has the introductory stage, and one needs to pass the medical license exam at the end of this phase to move further.
This stage has six semesters and lasts for three years. It consists of core subjects taught through practical means which includes internships, practical courses, and lecture.
It is a one-year stage of clinical training. These include internal medicine and surgeries and the subject specialization one chooses. It also provides job experience which prepares medical aspirants for the real world.
It is the last stage for the completion of a medical degree in Germany. Here the candidates need to pass the national standardized examination. It is after one passes this examination that a medical license and MBBS degree can be conferred to work as a certified doctor.
After completion of the MBBS program, the students can also apply for a post-graduate degree in medical science for further specialization. Through the post-graduate degree, the students can get an M.D. degree conferred on them. The students are required to study for a further six years to obtain an M.D. degree.
