Statement of purpose
If you are applying to a program taught in English, especially in postgraduate studies, some universities may require proof of English proficiency, which could include IELTS or TOEFL.
International programs or partnerships with Western universities may expect standardized language tests.
Some scholarships or exchange programs might require it.
Many Saudi universities accept Indian students based on their previous education in English, especially if you've studied in English medium schools or colleges.
For undergraduate programs, a certificate from your school or college stating that the medium of instruction was English is often enough.
Some universities conduct their own English placement tests during the admission process instead of requiring IELTS/TOEFL.
Check the specific university’s requirements – language requirements vary by institution.
Email or check the admissions page of the university you're applying to.
If you're applying through a scholarship, like the Saudi Government Scholarship (KASP), check if they have separate English requirements.
King Saud University (KSU)
King Fahd University of Petroleum and Minerals (KFUPM)
King Abdulaziz University (KAU)
Islamic University of Madinah (for religious studies)
Princess Nourah University (for women)
Once accepted, the university will issue an official acceptance/admission letter. This is crucial for the visa application.
If you are on a scholarship, you’ll also get a scholarship certificate and a visa sponsorship.
Once you have the admission letter, you can apply for the student visa (also called Education Visa or Study Visa) through:
Valid passport (with at least 6 months validity)
Admission/acceptance letter from the Saudi university
Visa authorization number (usually issued by the Saudi Ministry of Foreign Affairs)
Medical report from a certified clinic (attested)
Police clearance certificate
Educational certificates (10th/12th/degree) attested by:
Ministry of External Affairs (India)
Saudi Embassy or VFS center
Photographs
Completed visa application form (available online or at the embassy)
You’ll need a medical check-up from a Saudi-approved medical center in India. They test for general health, infectious diseases (like TB or Hepatitis), etc. The report must be submitted with your visa application.
Once everything is submitted, the processing time can take anywhere from 1 to 3 weeks (sometimes longer). Once approved, you’ll receive your visa stamped in your passport.
Once you arrive:
Register with your university.
Complete your Iqama (residence permit) process with their help. The university usually sponsors this.
