Admission Process to get admission to the medical colleges

 

There are four steps to apply for admission to the John Hopkins University School of Medicine. 

Step 1: Admission eligibility prerequisites

Ensure that all admission prerequisites are fulfilled appropriately.

Step 2: Complete the AMCAS application.

The admissions begin with a common application that is to be submitted on the American Medieval College Application Service. The AMCAS application must be received within 15th October annually.

Step 3: Complete the Johns Hopkins School of Medicine secondary application.

In addition to the AMCAS application, the secondary application for the concerned medical college of needs to be filled.  Once the AMCAS application is verified, the link is directly sent to the secondary application.

It is essential to take care of these factors before you apply in the secondary application

  • Include your AMCAS ID number on the secondary application
  • The M.D. secondary application deadline is November 1 annually. No application is thereafter considered.  

Step 4: Submit letters of recommendation.

The Letters of recommendation for both the M.D. program and the M.D. /Ph.D. program must need to be submitted through the AMCAS Letter Service .

Anyone of the following should satiate the recommendation requirement:

  • Committee letter - this is to be authored by the pre-health committee or advisor.
  • Faculty letters (required if the college/university you attended does not have a committee or advisor). These must include:
    • Two (2) letters from faculty members in science departments who have taught you, AND
    • One (1) letter from a non-science faculty member who has taught you
  • A letter of recommendation from the workplace is necessary if you hold work experience.
