MBBS curriculum in the Philippines

Phillippines offer a BS-MD course. MD is not a post-graduation course; it is similar to MBBS in other countries. The course is of 6 years of duration. It has three parts- BS, MD, and an internship in the end. BS or foundation course is the prime medical course. It consists of four semesters, which the student has to complete in 1.5 to 2 years.

Once the course is complete, the student has to appear in the NMAT screening test. You will be eligible to get admission to MD after clearing The National Medical Admission Test or NMAT. Every medical school/college or university in the Philippines conducts NMAT. After clearing NMAT, the student gets admission to the MD course of 4 years. In case, the student was not able to clear the NMAT, he/she reappear for the test.

To join the MD course in Philippes directly, a student must have a Bachelor of Science degree.

Once the student completes the MD successfully, he/she has to serve as an intern in local hospitals, health care centers, or clinics.

Eligibility for MBBS in the Philippines

To get admission in Philippines medical university/college, one should fulfill the following criteria:

  • Minimum 60% marks in higher secondary.

  • Major subjects in higher subjects must be Physics, Chemistry, and Biology. A minimum of 50% aggregate is compulsory in the three major subjects for admission.  Also, a minimum of 50% should be there separately for each major subject.

  • Provide all the necessary certificates like mark sheets, transfer certificate, etc.

  • Proof of fee-paying capacity.

  • NEET-UG qualification is compulsory.

  • A complete medical examination certificate.

Various documents you will require are:

  • Valid passport and application form for the student visa.

  • Three passport size photographs.

  • The original notice of acceptance.
