This year all medical aspirants and their parents who desire to take their medical degree from abroad were disheartened due to the outburst of the global pandemic of COVID-19 as they were not eligible to take their admissions in the foreign medical universities due to the on-hold NEET-UG 2020 examination.
Considering the global pandemic the NEET-UG examination was continuously rescheduling from March 3rd by the Government of India. As per the latest information, the NEET-UG 2020 examination is going to be held on 13th September 2020 which may also postpone due to the global pandemic. The rescheduling of the exam has become a matter of great concern for the students who wish to study MBBS abroad as all the foreign Universities would only accept the admission of the students till 20 August 2020 and the classes would start to commence from 15th September 2020. Since the NEET-UG exam is decided to be held on 13th September, the students would not get the results on time to start their session in the MBBS colleges of abroad, and hence all the students would lose a year in this process. Therefore, concerning the global pandemic of COVID-19, the honorable High Court of India permits all the medical aspirants to take their admission in Foreign Medical Institutes prior to NEET-UG 2020. However, all such candidates must qualify the NEET-UG 2020 or 2021. In case, any student does not qualify for the NEET examination after taking the admission in the Foreign Medical University he/she would not be eligible for the MCI screening test and would not be entitled to grant of Permanent Registration or Provisional Registrations from the State Medical Councils.
As per the notification issued by the “MINISTRY OF HEALTH AND FAMILY WELFARE (Department of Health and Family Welfare on 24th September 2020. S.O. 3263(E)”, Medical Council of India is dissolved. Government has also dissolved the Indian Medical Council Act, 1956. National Medical Commission Act, 2019 will be superseded. Now National Medical Commission will be the regulatory body in place of MCI. The students who are going to aboard for their MBBS should not worry because nothing has changed for them. If any new rules and regulations are issued by NMC, the students who are going to aboard for their medical education will have to follow it.
The High Court permission is like a silver lining for all the medical aspirants who were downhearted due to the global pandemic. Now, they all are free to travel their desired education destinations and accomplish their goals.
