There are some drawbacks of pursuing MBBS in Bangladesh, that are not particularly unique for Bangladesh, as many other places also share these downsides, that are being mentioned below:-
The No Tuition fees incentive being provided under SAARC is conditioned upon the student having to secure at least 95% in the 12th standard.
It is tricky to find admission in a recognized university in Bangladesh. The difficulty arises because of the lack of recognition in the case of several universities. Yes, there are MCI accredited colleges, but other than those, one must thoroughly inquire whether or not a particular college or university has the approval of the Ministry of Health and Family Welfare, Dhaka and the Medical and Dental Council of Bangladesh, Dhaka.
Before you give serious thought to pursue your Medical degree in Bangladesh, you must keep in mind that Bengali is the language of common parlance in Bangladesh, and therefore at least some familiarity with the language becomes indispensable.
Indian students are required to attain a 'No objection' certificate from MCI, which is quite common for other countries too.
Some of the most acclaimed and reputed colleges of Bangladesh do not provide admissions to students who have a gap of over 2 years after the clearing the 12th standard examination.
Another important thing to keep in mind is that, throughout your internship, you will not be permitted to make direct physical contact with a patient. This makes your learning during the internship period, more of an observation rather than a practical understanding of the curriculum.
Some significant new improvements are planned for the Medical Education system of Bangladesh; they are expected to be fruitful in the coming years. The MCI is about to be replaced with National Medical Commission (NMC). There are a lot of suggestions being made to improve the curriculum and teaching methodologies that are currently in practice.
National Exit test or NEXT will work as the common qualifying exam for the issue of licenses, which the final year MBBS students will be eligible to appear for. It will also be a qualifying test for students pursuing FPG courses. NEXT will function as a comprehensive single test for medical graduates; this way student will not face the difficulty of preparing for and appearing in different exams. For MBBS pass-outs, clearing NEXT will be essential to pursue post-graduation. The same goes for all the international students who want to secure admission in any of the postgraduate courses from the medical universities of Bangladesh. Students can attempt NEXT, twice in a year. The exam is conducted online, once during June/July, then again in November/December.
Once you have finished your MBBS from Bangladesh, you are required to qualify the MCI screening test, or any other equivalent test in other countries, depending upon the country in which you want to pursue a career. On qualifying this screening test, you would easily pursue post-graduation in India or abroad.
It is mandatory to pass the NEXT or FMGE if you want to complete your post-graduation from India. However, it is not a compulsion to clear MCI, if you are pursuing a PG course from the United States. In this case, you will be required to clear the Common Entrance test- NEET which is a PG Entrance test for medical courses-MD/MS/Diploma.

"As far as I can remember, I always wanted to study abroad. Once I completed my school education, I decided that it was time for me to pursue my lifelong dream. My parents were happy and supportive of my decision. I started preparing for NEET and fortunately was able to score well. My good performance in the exam ensured that I was qualified to apply for the various courses being offered by the medical universities in Bangladesh. My consultant guided me through every step of the process.
Due to their knowledge and expertise, I was able to submit an impressive application for college admission. In just a few weeks, I received an email, informing me about my acceptance. I just could not believe what had happened. I was over the moon with excitement. Finally, my long-time dream was turning into reality. I am all done with my visa procedures, and I have already booked tickets. My course session commences from March, and I can't wait to join." – XYZ
"I was in 10th standard. It was the first time when our school arranged a career counseling session for all of us. It was during this session, that I got introduced to the concept of foreign education. I became convinced that I wanted to become a physician. I decided that I will complete my higher education from an international university. After completing my school education, I started seeking out the options that were available to me. I figured that Bangladesh would be a perfect fit for me. I connected with guidance councilors, who were experts and followed their advice to navigate the process. With their help and support, I sailed through the admission as well as the visa procedures. I was informed about the accommodation issues in advance, therefore I was able to book the hall of residence, almost two months before I was set to arrive. All these problems were quite easy to solve because the consultants took care of everything that made it quite easy for me to manage in a foreign country. Now, it has been a few months since I have moved here, needless to say, I love every moment of my student life." – XYZ
