How many years does it take to complete MBBS in Germany?

MBBS in Germany may last from 6 years to 7.5 years. This duration includes an internship of 1-1.5 years.

A regular MBBS course is for six years and three months. MBBS in Germany may take seven years and three months. It is due to the reason; the student has to spend about one year extra to get proficiency in the German language.

MBBS in Germany has the following four stages:

1. Pre-clinical phase: The pre-clinical phase is for two years or four semesters. It is an introductory phase. Students get to know about the basic concepts of science and medicine. At the end of the pre-clinical phase, a student undergoes a Physicians examination.
2. Clinical stage: The clinical stage of MBBS in Germany lasts for three years or six semesters. At the end of this stage, the candidate has to appear for the second round of the Physicians Examination test. In this stage, students come to know about the core concepts of medicine. 
3. Practical year of MBBS: all the clinical training and introduction to practical aspects with real-life training sessions will be there. This stage lasts for one year and three months. Students learn about medicine, surgery, and an elective subject.
4. State Examination: the last stage is state examination and approbation. After clearing this examination, the applicant becomes a registered medical practitioner in Germany. Now, the candidate can apply for a license to practice medicine in Germany.

Eligibility of Indian students for entrance in German medical colleges

• The candidate should be at least 17 years on 31 December on the year of admission in medical college.

• Twenty-five years is the maximum age for applying in medical college, Germany, for MBBS.

• The applicant must have 60% marks in Physics, Chemistry, Biology, and English in the 12^th  standard.

• The minimum percentage requirement for SC/ST/OBC candidates is 40% in the 12^th standard.

• Candidate should qualify for the NEET exam. A minimum of 60% of marks is must in NEET examination to pursue MBBS in abroad.

•  The medium of instruction should be English at the school level.

• There is no requirement of IELTS or TOEFL, but proficiency in English is a must. The candidate should be able to read, write, and understand English.

Documents required for admission in Germany

For admission in a medical college of Germany, the candidate must possess the following documents and certificates:

• Age proof: The candidate can provide a copy of a birth certificate or 10^th board exam admit card as the age proof.

• Character certificate: the candidate is required to submit a copy of the character certificate signed by an authorized person.

• Academic certificates: 10^th class mark sheet, 12^th class mark sheet, and transfer certificate from the school.

• Nationality certificate: if the candidate is not a resident of Germany, he/she has to provide a copy of the front page of the passport.

• Passport-sized photos: recent passport size photos for academic records.

• Health certificate: Candidate has to submit a complete medical checkup certificate from the medical authority.

Admission procedure for MBBS in Germany
