Indian students aspiring to take admission in a medical university overseas must always make sure that the university that they get admission into is MCI approved. In this regard, it is always better if they maintain a couple of options at hand for overseas universities to join. While a university is not MCI approved, a pass out student is not eligible to practice medicine in India. It does not matter if the student wants to practice medicine from aboard. He should take admission in an MCI approved university only. This keeps the option open for practicing medicine in India at some time in the future.

There have been certain cases in the past wherein aspiring medical students from India took admission in a university that was not MCI approved. This came by as a waste of time and money for them. They faced problems in their career to an extent.

Similarly, to be on the safer side, it is preferable that a university is approved by the World Health Organization (WHO) as well. 

MBBS in Ukraine

Let us now take a look at the rules and regulations set by the MCI for an MBBS from abroad for Indian students:

  • The student must qualify for the NEET examination.
  • The student must complete 17 years of age on 31st December of the year when he takes admission.
  • The student must not be over 25 years of age at the time of taking admission.
  • He/she must score at least 50% marks in PCB for class XII

MCI: An Introduction

MCI is a government body. It is aimed towards up keeping the high standards of medical education within India, and establishing the same.

MCI also sanctions the medical degrees received by Indian students from foreign medical universities. This is done before the students can initiate their medical practice in India. 

Here is a short summary of MCI rules for MBBS from abroad:

  • MCI earlier used to issue eligibility certificates. But now, passing NEET is the eligibility to study medicine from abroad. An eligibility certificate is not required.
  • Before taking admission, a student must inquire about the fees charged by the overseas medical university for the MBBS course.

Before applying to an overseas medical university, a student must go to the MCI website and make sure that the university is approved by MCI. A better idea in this regard is to apply only to those universities that are mentioned over the MCI website.

The university was established in the year 1921. It is ranked high owing to the high quality of medical education, a high FMGE pass percentage and having a hostel within the campus.

Among the 5,500 students who are currently a part of the university, 1,000 are international students. Their medium of teaching is English.

The yearly tuition fees Vinnitsa National Medical University is around INR 400,000 and combined with the hostel fee, it comes in the line of INR 440,000.

Bogomolets National Medical University

Bogomolets National Medical University is a historic university well recognized for its excellence in medical education. It is over 175 years old and was established in 1841. BNMU is among the most popular universities in Ukraine and across Europe. They enroll students from different cultures. 

The degrees offered by the University include MDS, MD, MS, BDS, and MBBS. The three faculties at the University include:

  • Faculty of Pharmacy

The yearly fee of the university is in the line of INR 7, 20,000.

Danylo Halytsky Lviv National Medical University

LSMU has been awarded the 4th level of accreditation. The University is over 230 years old and was established on 16th November 1784. All across Ukraine, it is amongst the oldest educational institutions and also among the largest. 

In total, there are 22 actively functional scientific schools at the university. They include Surgery, Pharmacy, Oncology, Gynecology and Obstetrics. The departments are 78 in number. 

Students from overseas are eligible to study in:

  • Faculty of Pharmacy
  • Faculty of Dentistry
  • Faculty of Medicine

The university has a total of 134 Doctors of Sciences, 17 researchers, 50 senior tutors, 369 associate professors, and 113 professors.

Annual fees for the university come in the line of INR 4, 60,000.

MBBS in Ukraine Eligibility 

V.N. Karazin Kharkiv National Medical University

V.N. Karazin Kharkiv National Medical University is better known as Karazin University. It is among the top medical universities in Ukraine and was established in 1804. 

Among all medical universities across Ukraine, Karazin University is the second oldest. The quality of medical education is top class and the fees are affordable as well. One must qualify for the IELTS/TOFEL and NEET examination for enrolling in the university. The yearly fee for medical education in the V.N. Karazin Kharkiv National Medical University comes in the line of INR 3, 84, 000.

Ternopil State Medical University

TSMU is among the oldest universities across Ukraine. Ternopil is among the finest of cities for studying. Many Indian students are already enrolled in the University. 

It was in 1957 that the University was founded. The university has a level 4 accreditation, granted by the ministry of health and science in Ukraine. A range of degrees are offered at the TSMU for:
