Alzahra University, located in Tehran, Iran, was established in 1964. Initially, it was founded as an institution dedicated to women's education under the name "The Higher Educational Institute for Girls." The university's mission was to provide women with higher education opportunities, which were limited at the time.
After the 1979 Iranian Revolution, the university was renamed Alzahra University, in honor of Fatimah Zahra, the daughter of Prophet Muhammad. It continues to be a leading public university in Iran, focusing on empowering women through education across various fields, including humanities, social sciences, art, engineering, and natural sciences. It has played a significant role in advancing women's education in Iran and the broader region.
