Kharazmi University, located in Iran, is one of the oldest and most prestigious higher education institutions in the country. It was originally established in 1919 as the Teacher Training College (Dar ul-Funun), making it one of the earliest modern educational institutions in Iran. The university has played a significant role in shaping the modern educational system in Iran.
In 1974, it was renamed "Tarbiat Moallem University," reflecting its focus on training teachers and educational professionals. The university expanded its academic programs over the years, and in 2012, it was officially renamed Kharazmi University, in honor of the famous Persian mathematician and scholar, Al-Khwarizmi (also spelled as Kharazmi), who made significant contributions to mathematics, astronomy, and geography.
Kharazmi University now offers a wide range of undergraduate, graduate, and doctoral programs across various fields of study, including sciences, humanities, engineering, and social sciences. The university has campuses in Tehran and Karaj.
