Al-Farabi Kazakh National University is a leading open university in Kazakhstan. It is situated in a modern Kazgugrad campus in Almaty and embraces over 15 schools and over 62 academic departments. It is also known as KazGU or KazNU. This university is named after Al-Farabi, the 10th-century Eastern philosopher and scholar. It was founded in 1934 and is among the largest universities in the nation. Also, KazNU is the earliest classical university of the Republic instituted by a Decree of the Kazakh Regional Committee (KRC) office. It strives for improving educational and social work, and involvement of youth in the socio-economic development of the nation. The University has established “Al-Farabi” centers in different countries all around the globe. Its deftly curated course programs train students to become critical thinkers, versatile, excellent learners, and future leaders in their forte.

The Al-Farabi Kazakh National University comprises 32 scientific research institutes and centers, around 16 functioning faculties, 67 departments, and a techno-park. University and Accommodation of Al-Farabi Kazakh National University

Al-Farabi Kazakh National University has the largest campus in the country (area=100 hectares), in a beautiful area of Almaty. The education infrastructure of the campus involves 13 education buildings and scientific laboratories. The students find themselves in an innovative environment for education. Further, they have access to the specialized libraries and computer labs, including access to KazNU’s super-computer and the university technopark. For student accommodation, there are seventeen dormitories on campus. Also, the University has a nice-looking sports center along with a gym, health center, sports fields, shopping center, private cinema, net of reading rooms, a cyber cafe, a powerful library comprising the necessary educational literature, and more.

Student life at Al-Farabi Kazakh National University

The students at this university are served with many facilities for their comfortable accommodation. The rooms in the hostels at the campus are cozy and safe and students live on a sharing basis. The hostels have conference rooms, reading rooms, WI-FI connectivity, and more. There are grocery stores, cafeterias, and several buffets that serve Indian as well as other food cuisines. Also, all the hostels at the campus are equipped with surveillance cameras for ensuring the 24x7 security of students at the hostels.
