The Mansoura University is a non-profit public university in Mansoura city, Egypt. The university was established in 1972. It is situated on the eastern bank of the Nile river, about 120 km northwest of Cairo in an urban backdrop. The university's faculty of medicine was established in 1962 as a branch of Cairo University. Later, a presidential decree issued in 1972 announced the institution of the university under the name East Delta University. In 1973, this name was changed to Mansoura University. It is among the biggest Egyptian universities. The Mansoura University has contributed much to the cultural and scientific development in Mansoura and Egypt. At Mansoura University, most programs are fully taught in English. However, some programs are taught in the Arab language. The university is ranked in the leading 30 universities in the QS Arab Region University Rankings 2019.

Spotlight at Mansoura University

The Mansoura University has a notable reputation for its medical facilities, counting nine eminent hospitals and medical centers, along with the Medical experience research center (MERC) and the Urology and Nephrology center. The Mansoura University's Urology and Nephrology Centre is the largest of this kind in entire Africa, and it was initiated by the well-known Egyptian urologist Mohamed Ghoneim.

After changing its name, the university participated in various tournaments, and each year they bring out the victory. Also, it has recently been in the spotlight for the newest discovery of a dinosaur which has been described as being a genus of herbivorous dinosaur, named Mansourasauras. It was discovered in the Quseir Formation of Egypt and the name given to it is inspired by the name of the university.

University and Accommodation of Mansoura University

The main campus of the Mansoura University is situated in the city center. Other than this, four of the university faculties – the Faculty of Arts,  the Faculty of Tourism and Hotels, the Faculty of Special Education, and the Faculty of Kindergartens are situated off-campus. The university campus encompasses 15 faculties along with three large accommodation complexes, a student hospital, restaurants, a dining hall, and a well-equipped sports complex. The student hostels are well-equipped for their accommodation with all the basic amenities.

Student life at Mansoura university

This 48 years old higher-education institution has a selective admission policy based on entrance examinations. The international applicants are permitted to apply here for enrollment. The University offers several academic and non-academic facilities to the enrolled students including accommodation, a library, sports facilities, study abroad exchange programs, and more. Hygienic food facilities are available with separate veg and non-veg sections offering delicious food. The campus is fully equipped with Wi-fi. Also, emergency doctors are available when required. Whenever any problem arises there for the students, the staff and security personnel are always there to help. The safety and security of every student is a priority at Mansoura University.
